Performance Night in Sydney |
Kentucky Public School offers its students a broad range of
musical opportunities and experiences. The school is the base for the State Small Schools Marimba Ensemble which has
performed at the annual Schools Spectacular at the Sydney Entertainment Centre
as well as the Opera House Choral and Instrumental Concert Series several times
in recent years.
All students are involved in the school's marimba performance program.
Marimbas are
large xylophone type instruments based upon traditional African designs and are
played by 2-3 students at once. The school has made and decorated its own
marimbas as well as a wide selection of "wacky" percussion instruments
and, more recently, a set of stringed echocellos. For more about our wonderful
array of instruments, visit our "Great Instruments" link. The school's
students also take part in recorder tuition and choral activities regularly
presenting items at community gatherings.
The Armidale Eisteddfod is a highlight of the local Creative Arts calendar at
which Kentucky Public School regularly makes successful appearances
